The Department of Physics strives to provide an exciting educational environment that emphasizes lively classroom learning, extensive use of interactive and peer instruction, and relevant research. Physics is a gateway to opportunities for working in diverse settings including education, industry, and for pursuing advanced degrees. Our graduate students are involved in state-of-the-art research as part of their degree plans. We encourage our undergraduates to explore research. We have modern research facilities, both within the department and through professionally-staffed shared-user laboratories, to provide hands-on training and meaningful experiences for our students, as well as dedicated faculty who work closely with students.
If you are interested in becoming a physics major I suggest you start with the message from our Undergraduate Program Director. For those of you thinking about our graduate programs, I encourage you to look over our degree and research opportunities.
We also cordially invite prospective students to visit us! Just call the department office to set up an appointment!
