Summer Math Camp COVID-19 Procedure

Mathworks is excited to offer in-person camps during summer 2022. After two years of virtual camps to limit the spread of COVID-19, we are optimistic about conducting an exciting camp in a healthy and safe environment.

As a center for innovation in mathematics education at Texas State University, we will follow both the Health and Safety Guidelines set by Texas State University and mandates set by The Office of the Texas Governor, Greg Abbott. These guidelines are subject to change at any time.

All participants are strongly encouraged to:
• Get a COVID-19 vaccination
• Check yourself each day for symptoms
• Get tested if you have symptoms, or have been exposed or close contact to someone with a positive result
• Wear face masks indoors or when in a crowded outdoor gathering
• Maintain social distancing (6 feet) when possible
• Wash hands or use hand sanitizer frequently
• Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze

In the unfortunate event that someone tests positive for COVID-19, we will contact the parent or guardian to work out a way to isolate the student for 5 days as suggested by CDC guidelines.

Students who cannot return home may be be housed in isolated rooms in Retama Dormitory for 5 days. These alternate living arrangements will need to be made by the participant or their legal guardian. Returning from isolation is acceptable after 5 full days if the camper is asymptomatic or symptoms are resolving (fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medications). Campers who return from isolation should mask for 5 additional days to avoid infecting other campers.

It is our hope that all participants will be able to join in all activities. However, field trips to events such as to the Bamberger Ranch require that participants follow the policy of the event host. Please be advised that the Bamberger Ranch requires that guests have at least two COVID vaccinations.. Participation will be limited based on the venue’s policy.
