Texas State Stormwater

The Texas State University Stormwater Management Program strives to educate the campus community about stormwater and provide useful, up-to-date information about how we can protect the San Marcos River and surrounding bodies of water for future generations.

In the 2010 U.S. Census, San Marcos was identified as an urbanized area and became regulated under the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Phase II Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit. Texas State University, located within the boundaries of the city's urbanized area, also became subject to the Phase II MS4 General Permit. The overall goal of the MS4 Permit is to improve the quality of water that flows into receiving waters and protect our waterways from pollution.
