Seeking the CPM Certification
Students seeking admission to the Texas CPM Program should be in public sector or not for profit sector jobs, ideally, with at least one year of working experience in the public or non-profit sector. Candidates without a year of experience should contact the Director of the CPM Program concerning admission. In some cases, candidates in the private sector that are seeking to learn more about public or not for profit management may also be admitted to the CPM Program. A college degree is not required for admission to the program.
Each of the partnering universities manage the 7-track program within their geographic location, including registration requirements, payment and logistics. Contact the university Director near you for specific information.
CPM Certification through Texas State University
The San Marcos and Round Rock area locations: Students may begin the CPM course of study with any of the CPM tracks (except track #7), requesting registration at any time throughout the year. It is recommended that those enrolled in the CPM Program take at least 3 tracks per year, but this is not required. Students make take as many as 2 tracks per semester (one at each location) to complete the full program more quickly. There is normally a 5-year time limit for the completion of all 7 tracks in order to achieve certification. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are also awarded.
Arlington / Dallas area location: This location is arranged on a cohort basis at the beginning of each calendar year. Please contact Dr. Howard Balanoff, our Arlington Program Director, for admissions information.
CPM Certification and Academic Credit through Texas State University
Only the Texas State University San Marcos and Round Rock program locations currently offer CPM tracks for academic credit toward a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree. To obtain academic credit, students must follow Office of Distance and Extended Learning (ODEL) procedures and obtain approval from their academic department at Texas State University. Students must also meet the requirements of the Texas State University undergraduate or graduate catalogs which can be found on the University’s website at mycatalog.txstate.edu. A Note on Modality & COVID-19
Our programs are currently designed to meet in-person, but we have held virtual classes due to pandemic related restrictions. We adhere to all state and federal guidelines related to COVID-19. In addition, each location may have additional constraints as per their university policy. Please contact the relevant program director for more information for your preferred location.
