Veterans and Military Connected Students

Welcome to Texas State University
Texas State University is ranked nationally for its collaborative efforts to create an affirming, supportive and military-friendly institution. It is our honor to collectively serve veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country.
The Veterans and Military-Connected Students' website offers a one-stop approach to connecting veterans, military-connected students, and families to resources and opportunities. We encourage you to review each section for information pertinent to your transition from Becoming a Bobcat to Now a Bobcat and Always a Bobcat.
Become a Bobcat
Student veterans who want to Become a Bobcat and are confident they meet eligibility standards are encouraged to directly apply for admissions. This program is only available for prospective undergraduate students.
Prospective graduate students are encouraged to apply with The Graduate College.
-
How long will it take for admissions to make a decision on my file?
Once your file is complete you should receive a decision within one week.
-
Why do I need to submit my High School Transcript?
We use the transcript to determine whether students meet the foreign language proficiency requirement while in high school. Failure to do so would result in you needing to take foreign language courses in college, regardless of whether the major requires those courses.
- Prospective student veterans who may not meet eligibility criteria are encouraged to attend a local community college to increase transfer hours and grade point average.
- Upon completion at community college, apply for admission to Texas State University.
-
How will I know which courses transfer into Texas State University?
Submit all transcripts for processing. Typically, transcripts will be evaluated within one week. Once you have allowed for processing time you can contact Undergraduate Admissions for counseling on which courses transferred and how that will impact your eventual admission decision.
-
Is it possible to get credit for military experience?
Yes, but only after you have been admitted to Texas State University. Your admission decision will not include military credit, but once admitted you can inquire through your college to see if additional credits can be utilized toward your intended degree.
