Correspondence Exams

  • The Testing, Evaluation and Measurement Center (TEMC) exams for correspondence are administered at the Testing Lab located in Commons Hall, Ground Floor, room G14 and at the Testing Center, Round Rock campus located in Avery, Suite 209. You must be enrolled in a course and have permission from the Correspondence department to take an exam prior to making an appointment with the Testing Center. All requirements and standards for a course are set by the Correspondence Department and vary based upon the course in which you are enrolled.   • For Texas State University students, there is no testing fee.
  • Examinees must submit their exam requests at least two business days in advance using our online form which is sent directly to the Correspondence Studies office. For example, to request an exam on a Monday at 10 am, the request form must be submitted no later than 10 am on the preceding Thursday.

    If you intend to test at the San Marcos (SM) campus, please complete the SM Correspondence Testing Request. If you intend to test at the Round Rock campus (RRC), please complete the TCRR Correspondence Testing Request. The Correspondence Studies office will approve the request and forward it to the appropriate campus testing center. After approval, examinees will receive a confirmation from the SM or RRC testing center within 1 business day.

    You may not take two exams for the same course on the same day, unless the Correspondence Office has given approval for you to do so.

  • Students with disabilities who may require accommodations (alternative format, reader service, extended time, etc.) must contact the Office of Disability Services (512.245.3451) prior to taking the test. Verification of disability will be required.

    All examinees who require accommodations must complete an Accommodated Testing Request Form to test at either facility at least two weeks prior to the desired exam date. If you intend to test at the San Marcos campus, please complete the SM Accommodated Testing Request Form. If you intend to test at the Round Rock campus, please complete the TCRR Accommodated Testing Request Form. Requests will be processed within two business days. Please note the operating hours for each campus testing center and available start times for the exam you wish to take when selecting your appointment time and make sure to take into account additional time you may need.

  • Examinees must present a valid photo ID to take a test.
  • The testing lab (SM) hours for Correspondence exams are as follows:

    Monday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Friday 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

    All exams must be completed in one sitting by 4:50 p.m.
