2.2.1 - In-depth explanation of each of the Indirect Measures used to evaluate.

1. Alumni Survey Results (Graduating Seniors):

Implementation Plan
We are now in the second year of using a "Survey Monkey" senior exist survey versus and former paper surveys. This survey is administered about a month after the Fall, Spring and Summer session ends.

Assessment Plan
The survey has 29 questions ranging from the time it took the CSM graduate to find a job, starting salary, what was their first job to ranking the value of the CSM Program courses they took (Appendix D12).

Assessment Implementation Plan
Survey Monkey provides a statistical analysis for each year and a running statistical analysis for multiple years, so trends can be tracked. This data is critically analyzed every three years and is used to make improvements in the Program.

2. Construction Alumni Survey (conducted every three years):

Implementation Plan
The Alumni Survey is administered via Survey Monkey every three years and has replaced the previous paper surveys.

Assessment Plan
This survey is sent electronically to all graduates of the Construction Program during the prior three (3) years to gain a perspective of how well the Program prepared them for their careers. The survey asks general information questions such as their employer, starting salaries and position title. In addition, each CSM course they took is rated on a 1-5 Likert scale and Alumni are asked to provide open ended summary comments at the end of the survey.

Assessment Implementation Plan
This information is summarized and the areas of concern identified by graduates are addressed in the construction program every three years. Note: This is the first year we have used Survey Monkey, compared to the former paper and pencil surveys that were used in the past. Also, we modified several of the questions, so this is the first year using Survey Monkey and the new questionnaire (Appendix D13).

3. Employers Evaluation of Texas State University Construction Science and Management Employee (Appendix Q):

Implementation Plan
The employers of our graduates are requested to complete a Survey Monkey questionnaire.

Assessment Plan
This questionnaire consists of 16 questions which the employer is requested to rate by checking a response from the five (5) available responses. These categories range from "Responsibility" to "Leadership Quality". The employer is also given the chance to answer open ended questions ranging from "The employee's outstanding qualities" to "Other comments about the employee and/or how well the Construction Science and Management Program prepared the employee for the real world" (Appendix 14).

Assessment Implementation Plan
The questions are numerically scored to determine the areas that can be improved and the categories that are rated high. These noted changes are then incorporated into the CSM Program. This is done every three years.
