What is SLAC?
The Student Learning Assistance Center, better known around campus as SLAC, is a multi-faceted academic support program for all Texas State students. We provide tutoring services (individual, group, online), Supplemental Instruction (collaborative group study for specific courses), learning and study skills workshops, and learning specialist consultations free of charge.
Our web site contributes information to help you succeed in college, whether you are a first-semester student seeking help in mathematics, a continuing student looking for tips to improve your writing, or a graduating senior preparing for law school. We also post the schedules of our other resources, such as drop-in tutoring and Supplemental Instruction, so you will know when and where to find us throughout the week.
While I hope you will explore our web site to learn more about our services, I also encourage you to come see SLAC the next time you are in the Alkek Library. We're easy to find on the 4th floor, so feel free to stop in and talk with the staff, pick up a few helpful handouts, and see why Texas State students visit us over 52,000 times each year.
