2/20/2020 Fall data should be added yearly once enrollment figures are determined

Based on IPEDS eligibility definition.    For members of minority groups underrepresented among those holding advanced degrees in science and engineering fields, the following are counted: African Americans, Alaska Natives, American Indians, Hispanic Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders.  Notice that undergraduates of Asian background are not considered minorities under the provided definition, so those who identified as only Asian and those who identified as Asian-white in the multi-race category are omitted from the calculated minority percentage.  Students who are Asian in combination with Hawaiian, American Indian, Alaskan, Pacific Islander, African American, or Hispanic are still considered part of the minority group due to their non-Asian and non-white identity.    Grant application requirements sometimes specify the year of data to use.
