"Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible" screens on campus

“Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible,” a documentary by Shakti Butler, will screen Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center Teaching Theatre at Texas State University-San Marcos.

“Mirrors of Privilege” is a documentary that seeks to expose and understand the perspectives that perpetuate prejudice and racism in modern society. The film ultimately challenges all notions of racism, prejudice and white supremacy in the United States .

Following the film, the audience will be invited to take part in a discussion facilitated by Sharon Miley, senior lecturer in the Department of Sociology.

The film is presented by the Student Affairs Diversity Team and co-sponsored by Hip Hop Congress, Residence Hall Association, First Generation Student Organization, LAMBDA, Phi Iota Alpha, Student Association for Campus Activities, Allies, Latinas Unidas, Student Foundation and Bobcat Equality Alliance.
