Mathworks HSMC student awarded First Place at Texas Science Fair

San Marcos, TX - April 19, 2010
Mathworks Honors Summer Math Camp (HSMC) student Max Wimberley received a First Place award at the ExxonMobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair held April 11-12. Wimberley’s project was awarded first place in the Mathematical Sciences Catetory of the Senior Division.  He advances to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair that will be held in San Jose, CA this coming May.
 

Max (Austin, TX), worked on his project with Millie Shi (Sugar Land, TX) during their time at the 2009 HSMC. Their project, "Creating and Deducing Structure using Domination Numbers in Permutation Graphs," was mentored by Dr. Weizhen Gu of the Texas State University math department.
