HPN Scholarship

The Hispanic Policy Network at Texas State University has established an endowed scholarship fund to provide scholarships for students pursuing a college education. Funds for the scholarships are raised through the university’s annual charitable giving campaign and other fundraising activities.
Awards:
HPN will award four (4) scholarships. The scholarship amounts will be:
- Up to of $1,000 for Undergraduate students enrolled at Texas State;
- Up to $1,050 for Graduate students enrolled at Texas State.

Graduate Student Scholarship Eligibility
- Hispanic/ Latinx Texas State University Student
- Hispanic/ Latinx Texas State University Student
- Will be enrolled as a full-time student for upcoming Fall semester (at least 12 semester credit hours of coursework)
- Will be enrolled as a full-time student for upcoming Fall semester (at least 9 semester credit hours of coursework)
- Overall GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

Additional consideration may be given to the following students:
- Dependent of a Texas State Employee.
- First generation college student (neither parent has obtained a bachelor’s degree).
- Demonstrated financial need (low socioeconomic status).
- Undocumented legal status and/or DACA (Deferred action for Childhood Arrivals) student.
- Community service/ extracurricular activities during the preceding two (2) year period.

Essay
As part of BOSS System, applicants will be asked to submit an essay that describes their future goals and aspirations.

Letters of Recommendation Forms
As part of BOSS System, applicants will require at least two (2) Letters of Recommendation Forms. The BOSS System will ask for the recommenders' emails in order for them to complete the form.

Award Recipients & HPN Symposium
Scholarship Award Recipients will be notified via BOSS System.
Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the HPN Spring Symposium on April 12, 2019 (during the current academic year).
Upon receiving the scholarship, HPN will forward scholarship information to the Texas State Financial Aid & Scholarship Office. Your award will be applied to your upcoming Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters (half of the scholarship award will be applied to each semester).
