Honors College BLM Book Club for Students

BLM Book Club

The summer session for How to be an Antiracist has filled. However, if you want to be informed for our fall book club, please fill out the form below.

The Honors College recognizes the necessity for anti-racist initiatives, programming, and discussions. We invite our students to join us for our Black Lives Matter Book Club, led by Mariana Adame (graduate student studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling), Dr. Dwonna Goldstone (Director of African American Studies), and Dr. Louie Dean Valencia-GarcĂa (Laurel Honors Faculty in Residence). We will dive into How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi and hope to provide a space that fosters safety, rich discussion, curiosity, honesty, and vulnerability. Book Club Schedule: The book club will meet virtually every Monday at 1pm for 6 sessions. The book club will begin on Monday, July 13th, 2020 and  the final session will be held on Monday, August 17th, 2020.

The first 25 people to register will be given a hard copy of the book. A digital copy of the book is on file with the TXST Alkek Library for those participants who do not wish to purchase their own copy.
