Members present: Senators Feakes, Brown, Caldwell, Niekamp (for Conroy), Walker (for Furney), Hazlewood, Huling, Martin, Melzer, Morey, Payne, Stone

Meeting called to order at 3:00.

University Curriculum Committee:
After discussion about the differences between the requirements for the Doctor of Education and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Developmental Education and the predicted rates of graduation, the Senate passed a motion to approve the proposals for the Doctor of Education and Doctor of Philosophy in Developmental Education

University Committee Representation:
Faculty were indentified to serve as the Faculty Senate representatives for the 2010-2011 roster of University Councils/Committees/Teams. The Chair will contact the faculty to ascertain their willingness to serve.

Faculty Senate Committee Assignments:
Vacancies on the 2010-2011 roster of Senate committees were filled. The Senators from the appropriate college will address the two remaining vacancies. Members will be notified by email.

Break

Mace Bearers and Tenure-Track Faculty Luncheon:
Progress was reported on identifying mace bearers for the summer commencement ceremonies. The Chair collected names of Senators who plan to attend the luncheon for new tenure-track faculty on August 23 in Alkek 105.

Senate Priorities for Upcoming Year:
The Senate identified two priorities for the coming year: definition of faculty and faculty workload.

New Business:
The status of a faculty dining room was discussed.

Minutes of 6/16/10 were approved.
