65 New Texas CPM Graduates Recognized

Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center for Public Service graduated sixty-five new Texas Certified Public Managers® at the Texas State Capitol on Monday December 9, 2019. The CPM graduates and their families came from CPM Programs at the following locations: Edinburg, Houston, Nacogdoches, Round Rock, and San Marcos Texas. The graduates participated in CPM Programs offered by Texas State University, Stephen F. Austin University, University of Houston and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

The Graduation Speaker was Assistant Chief, Troy Gay with the City of Austin Police Department and a CPM graduate. Assistant Chief Gay spoke about the importance of ensuring our employees know that they are valued. It is recognizing the “little things” that can make a difference, listening to understand rather than to respond, and looking for opportunities to demonstrate your trust in them. 57 New Texas CPM Graduates Recognized

Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center for Public Service graduated fifty-seven new Texas Certified Public Managers® at the Texas State Capitol on Monday June 11, 2019. The CPM graduates and their families came from CPM Programs at the following locations: Arlington, Nacogdoches, Lubbock, Round Rock, and San Marcos Texas. The graduates participated in CPM Programs offered by the following universities, Texas State, Stephen F. Austin, and Texas Tech University.

The Graduation Speaker was Ms. Charmelle Garrett, Former City Manager of Victoria Texas, and CPM graduate of the very first cohort of Texas Certified Public Managers twenty-three years ago. Ms. Garrett spoke on some of the leadership learnings she had experienced in public service such as seeking out a mentor, building a professional network, keeping integrity at the forefront every day, and continuing to engage in lifelong learning.
