These five programs are directly affiliated with the Common Experience at Texas State. Together they are key components of the initiative.

Common Reading

We provide all incoming first-year students with a powerful Common Reading book related to the year's theme. Students discuss the book in University Seminar and other courses.

University Seminar

University Seminar is a course designed to help meet transitional needs of new Texas State students.

PACE Peer Mentors

Peer Mentors are upperclassmen placed in US 1100 classes to provide support for students integrating into university life. They often arrange group outings to Common Experience events.

LBJ Distinguished Lecture Series

Honoring the legacy of alumnus Lyndon B. Johnson, 36th President of the United States. The series fulfills his 1973 promise to bring important leaders to the university to share their philosophies, perspectives and experiences.
