School Psychology Program
Welcome to the School Psychology Program at Texas State University
Thank you for your interest in our school psychology program at Texas State!
It is with great pride that we continue our 45+ year history of preparing students who will go on to enhance the social, academic, and emotional competencies of children and adolescents in educational settings across Texas, throughout the US, and around the world. Our faculty and students are committed to equity and social justice and endorse the Trainers of School Psychologists Call for Action for Anti-Racism in School Psychology located here.
Our program has been granted full approval from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) for the period of August 1, 2022 through August 1, 2027.

Don't be fooled however; just because we are the largest, it doesn't mean we don't care. Just like the TXSTATE campus is the "largest small-feeling campus in Texas, “We are the largest, small-feeling school psychology program in Texas!”
- Our graduates are employed in school districts throughout the state, across the country, and throughout the world.
- Our program is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists, which simplifies the process of credentialing for graduates of the program.
- Our current and former students routinely serve as representatives and advocates at the state and national level.
Student Loan Repayment
As of 9/1/2023, School psychologists in Texas who meet eligibility requirements can receive a $40,000 student loan repayment award through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Mental Health Professionals Loan Repayment Program. TASP Outstanding Graduate Student
Congratulations to Ariel Dennis, who has been selected as a 2023 Outstanding Graduate Student by the Texas Association of School Psychologists (TASP). Ariel is one of a few students chosen to participate in a grant-funded PAIR-IT (Partnering Assessment and Intervention Responsiveness in Interdisciplinary Teams) scholar program and has contributed to faculty research. She is currently completing her internship in Lake Travis ISD.
U. S. Fulbright Research Award
Meet Christopher Le, S.S.P.
Chris entered our program in fall 2019 and graduated on time in May 2022. During his internship year he applied for a 10-month-long 2023 Fulbright U.S. Student Program Research Grant . In 2023, Chris was awarded this prestigious grant to collect data on his research project “‘A Changing Vietnam: Vietnamese Youth Coping with Intergenerational Conflict”.
During his 10-month Fulbright experience, Chris lived in Vietnam where he conducted bilingual behavioral research on inter-generational conflict within contemporary Vietnamese families living in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Mihn city. During this time, Chris was affiliated with the Vietnam National University - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, located in Hanoi.

Partnering Assessment and Intervention Responsiveness in Interdisciplinary Teams
(PAIR-IT) was a Personnel Preparation grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. Benefits for scholars accepted into this program included fully funded tuition, a faculty mentor, opportunities for conference travel, and interdisciplinary coursework, field, and internship experiences.
