Azeez Alli is a transdisciplinary designer, researcher, and strategist, based in Oakland, CA. He is a Lead Product Designer at Netflix, focused on building creative tools that enable Netflix content to be culturally relevant in local markets while reaching a global audience. In addition, he is passionate about producing and engaging in work that showcases the artistic and intellectual rigor of African and Indigenous cultures globally.
Azeez has a deep interest and passion for cross-cultural experience design that touches both product and brand and includes organizational design to deliver culturally resonating products, services, and experiences.
In partnership with ArtCenter College of Design, he founded the lecture series and platform called Critical Discourse in Design, which explores Design and its social implications through the lens of People, Pedagogy, and Practice. He is also a founding member of Design to Divest, a Black-led organization focused on influencing the design industry to adopt and develop more equitable systems through the research and elevation of Afrocentric and Indigenous creative thought, philosophy, and vernacular design.
Azeez’s design expertise has crossed both the digital and physical worlds. More than empathy, he is a care-driven designer who is always ready to challenge the status quo and move organizations towards healthier relationships with the environment and the communities they impact.
