An Uncommon Experience
Texas State’s doctoral degree in applied anthropology is one of only three such programs in the country. Our program prepares students for success in a wide range of careers spanning government, nonprofits, healthcare, museums, business, academia and more.
Applied anthropologists work across industries: for public agencies at local, state and federal levels; in the business sector; for nonprofits and community-based organizations; and in academia.
The department’s two research centers — one focused on cultural resource management, the other on forensic anthropology — offer unique hands-on experience in the field’s advanced skills. Our faculty engage in research worldwide in a variety of anthropological specialties.
