Student Suggestions from Jonnie Wilson's Fall 2007 University Seminar Class
Balance Out! Have fun, but at the same time do your work.
There are different ways to learn and study for every class; some classes will need more effort then others.
Get to know your professors; show them you care about your grade in their class.
Socialize; take time out to meet new people.
Don’t procrastinate; that will only stress you out and you don’t need that.
Be yourself; don’t change because you’re away from home and want to look “cool” in front of your friends.
Make sure your priorities are in order; school, work then play.
Manage your time; set up specific time slots to do what you need for you, don’t overwhelm yourself.
Always read your syllabus for each class; teachers don’t always tell you when a test is coming up, so be prepared.
Develop good study habits.
Don’t get caught up in partying all the time; stay focus of why you are here.
Go to class, be on time and take good notes; most of your tests are over your notes given in class.
Take control of your independence; don’t get too caught up in the college life.
If your roommate is bothering you LET HIM/HER KNOW; don’t have a roommate stress you out and mess up your studies.
If you fail a test, DON’T FREAK OUT! You can still pass the class.
