Anne Moody

Anne Moody, an African-American author, was born September 15, 1940, in Wilkinson County in southwest Mississippi, a violent and racially divided area at the time of her youth. Her perseverance in growing up as a minority in the segregated South led her to become significantly involved in the Civil Rights Movement. Moody's inspiring story in her autobiography, Coming of Age in Mississippi, depicts the details of her childhood, college years, and interactions with some of America's leading historical figures in the drive for equality. Anne Moody currently resides in New York, where she is still an active writer.
