Motion
R. Brown asked for a motion to approve the minutes from November 15, 2004 and February 28, 2005. D. Flaherty so moved. R. Northcutt seconds the motion. The November 15th and February 28th minutes were approved as prepared.
Updates and Issues for next Fall:
- R. Brown would like to thank D. Flaherty, B. Pevoto and S. Ogletree for their help meeting with and processing the revising of the components with the course department chairs.
- Will meet with natural science department chairs before June.
- SACS visit 2010
- GEOL (Environmental Science) from the Biology Dept. want to add a course to the natural science component, but we need to find out why they would want to add and if they have the resources to offer as a core curriculum course.
- In the Fall Jeff Gordon will come to discuss some concerns he has. He would like to do some research and then we will send all that information to you. The Provost told him to talk to the GEC. His question is what is wrong with Texas State and its vision.
- We will take up the issue about the natural science component once we have all the documents.
- Volunteers to help on the General Studies Degree Committee (report due by Jan. 2006) are B. Stone, B. Pevoto and T. Hindson.
- What to do about students being denied access to programs they want because programs are closed.
- One idea for GS Degree is 3 minors to form a major
- Bases on GPA and other admission criteria
