Fee

The fee for Compass is $30, which may be paid by Visa, Mastercard, check or money order payable to Texas State University, or by exact cash. 

Time Limits

The Compass test is untimed; however, you should allow one hour for each subtest needed. Therefore if you need to take only one or two subtests, you may register and begin the Compass any time during our Testing Lab Hours. However, if you need three or more subtests, you must begin your Compass at least one hour earlier than the ending time of our Testing Lab Hours. Please note that if you need to satisfy the Writing portion of TSI, that will require two subtests:  Writing Skills (multiple choice) and the e-Write Essay.  Similarly, if you are tesing for math placement, you may need up to three subtests.  If you do not know how many subtests you need to satisfy your TSI requirements, please call the TSIP office at (512) 245-3942.
