Duties include: 
• Preparing technical documents and compliance plans, including quality assurance project plans, monitoring/sampling plans, health and safety plans, and regulatory reports. 
• Performs assignments requiring application of standard techniques procedures and criteria 
• Performing field inspections and sampling of environmental media (soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, etc.) 
• Compiling and evaluating technical data and coordinating with laboratories. 
• Managing environmental data and databases 
• Communicating with clients and other staff 

Qualifications/Requirements: 
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field

Construction estimator for national retail and commercial construction company.  We are looking for an entry level estimator in the retail and light commercial construction world. 

Self-starter that can work independently on ground up and remodel projects, interfaces well with consultants, owner and subcontractors.

The successful candidate will provide support and communicate with customers, subcontractors and Embree project managers along with other employees and departments regarding proposal, specifications, and special conditions.

The candidate must be proficient in time management, productivity and accuracy.

The Project Superintendent is responsible for the supervision of the actual physical construction of the project in strict accordance with the contract documents. The Superintendent directs the day-to day coordination of Gilbane’s trade contractors, and their sub-contractors when required, to assure they turn out high quality work in the largest quantities in a time that beats, and at a minimum meets, the approved project schedule.

 

• Know and understand the plans, specifications and contract requirements. Utilize published checklists, lessons learned, watch-outs and technical assistance of industry groups such as ACI, AISC and other industry organizations in planning and monitoring work.

• Plan the execution of the work and prepare a detailed construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Staff and with the assistance of the Scheduling Department if available. Monitor the schedule and record actual progress of all activities on a daily basis. Update the project’s schedule with the assistance of the Project Manager and Project Executive.

• Review bid package scopes of work for completeness.

• For each section of the work hold a pre-construction conference with the trade contractor(s) involved and other appropriate parties to ensure that all requirements are understood.

• Review the monthly work in place and payment requisition with Project Accountants, Project Engineer, and Project Manager.

• Know all purchase orders and subcontracts.

• Review and maintain the field file of approved shop drawings.

• Maintain the field set of construction drawings and specifications, keeping them posted and up-to-date.

• Notify the Project Manager and/or Project Engineer if inconsistencies occur in trade contracts or in supply purchase orders.

The Project Engineer is responsible for the timely review and submission of all samples, brochures and shop drawings and for coordinating and expediting the flow of information, plans and specifications to the Architect/Engineer, field construction forces, subcontractors and material suppliers

• Establish submittal and RFI processing procedures with the Owner and A/E.

• Establish flow chart procedures for CO’s, RFI’s, Submittals, etc. if required.

• Set up Prolog for project (or other computerized database system if required by the Owner).

• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in documenting the planning and scheduling of construction operations and coordinate the production and updating of required schedule networks and printouts.

• Participate in constructability reviews.

• Assist the Project Superintendent in setting up the project’s survey and control lines and the plumbness of the work.

• Work with the Regional IS Group to provide computer hardware and software for the project that will be meet the Project Team’s (Gilbane, Owner and A/E) needs.

• Furnish, when required, a Project Procedures Manual.

• Set up quality inspection to record number and types of quality inspections performed on the project.

• Help in developing the Purchase and Award Schedule for the project.

• Develop submittal schedule.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from a major University

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks required.

THE KOEHLER COMPANY is a general contracting & architectural millwork company located in Seguin, Texas (40 minutes east of San Antonio, 1 hour south of Austin). The Koehler Company started as a two-man cabinet shop in 1954. Family-owned and operated, The Koehler Company has grown to employ over 60 individuals and has combined sales of approximately $30 million annually. The architectural millwork division specializes in commercial plastic-laminate-clad casework and high-end residential millwork. Since 2007, we have been using Microvellum for producing cabinet shop drawings and cabinet production. We have progressed through the years with versions 6, 67, and 7 (latest builds), and look to continue our progression with Microvellum in the years to come.

We are looking for dedicated individuals to help us to continue our growth and potentially reach into other market areas. What we are looking for:

Individuals should be organized, detail-oriented, professional, able to multi-task, work under pressure, and be willing to learn.

  • High school diploma or equal (college preferred but not required)
  • Microvellum 7 experience (2+ years preferred, Micromanager ERP experience is a plus)
  • AutoCAD experience – 2D and 3D drafting (2+ years preferred)
  • Must be able to interpret architectural blueprints
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other office applications
  • Estimating and Project Managing experience is a plus, but not required

Pay is based on experience.
