John Weder was a multi-sport letter winner at SWT, earning four letters in football (1950-53) and three letters in basketball (1951-54). He was a 1st Team All-Lone Star Conference selection and a Dallas Morning News 1st Team All-Texas selection in football in 1953. In 1952, Weder finished third in the nation in receiving yards. The following season he climbed even higher in the national rankings finishing second in receiving yards. After completing his eligibility, Weder served time overseas in the U.s. Army. After his stint in the armed forces, Weder coached at Southeastern Oklahoma State University for two seasons and was the head football coach at East Bernard High School where he compiled an impressive 12-1 overall record in 1958 and a 9-1 record in 1959. Weder is now a rancher and land developer and resides in Poteau, Oklahoma with his wife Shirley. They have a daughter Tracy Moellers and a son, Todd Weder, along with seven grand children.
