Hank Kotzur was a standout football player at SWT from where he took his gridiron knowledge on to the high school ranks.

Kotzur was a four-year letterman for the Bobcats from 1970-1973, where he was a two-time selection to the Lone Star All-Conference squad in 1971 and 1972. Those same years, he earned notice around the college circuit, garnering Second Team All American honors as a tight end. Kotzur still ranks sixth on the all-time Bobcat career list with 1,165 receiving yards.

The 1973 graduate of SWT moved on to the East Bernard High School, where he was a teacher and the football coach. During his six year stint, Kotzur guided the Eagles to the 1977 state football title. He was selected Coach of the Year in the same year. Kotzur had a career mark of 65-19-2 at Pleasanton.
