Ken Huewitt earned four letters as a member of the Bobcat football team
from 1980-1983. Huewitt was a starter on the Bobcats’ Division
II National Championship teams in 1981 and 1982 and was named Lone Star
Conference defensive player of the week in 1981. After a brief stint
with the Seattle Seahawks, Huewitt graduated from Southwest Texas State
with a B.B.A. in Accounting.
Huewitt began a long and successful career in the Audit and Financial
Industry as an auditor in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s
Office of the Inspector General and has held a variety of roles during
his career including Senior Audit Specialist for the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation, Senior Associate for Coopers & Lybrand, and
Regional Director of Finance for the ServiceMaster Corporation. Over
the past six years, Huewitt has served as the Controller for the Houston
Independent School District with duties ranging from developing sound
accounting policies and procedures for the various district funds and
accounts, to overseeing strategic operations, and managing the district’s
$1.5 billion annual operating budget. Huewitt is a Certified Public
Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Government Financial
Manager, and Certified Financial Services Auditor. He is a member of
several organizations including the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, National
Association of Black Accountants, Institute of Internal Auditors, and
the NAACP. Huewitt currently serves on the Board of Directors for the
T-Association and the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans.
Ken
married his college sweetheart, Pamela Elder, and they have two children,
Hunter and Hailey. Ladies and Gentleman, Ken Huewitt.
