The Trip to Shiner

The Brewery
Travel is one of the more popular activities  selected by RFSA members on our membership form. In an initial effort to accommodate this interest, the organization sponsored a day-long trip was to Shiner, Texas, on May 12, 2009, to visit the Spoetzl Brewery.

The brewery, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, provided our 28 members and guests with a 2.5 hour VIP tour of the facility, subsidized lunch in their Werner's Restaurant, and sent us home with a complimentary six-pack of the brew.

For more information on the history of this remarkable business see the brewery's excellent web site or read the interesting article, Shiner at 100 in the Austin Chronicle.
