The main business of the day was the election of officers for academic 2009-10. Margaret Dunn, Chair of the Nominating Committee, presented the Committee's recommendation which was to reelect current officers (Marianne Reese, President; Ev Swinney, Vice-President;  Ollie Maier, Secretary; Darlene Schmidt, Treasurer; and John Beck, Ombudsperson) for second terms. The Committee's recommendation was approved by acclamation.

Margaret then introduced Gregg Andrews, professor of history and assistant director of the Center for Texas Music History, who talked about his long love affair with country music, his role in the formation of the Center, and his deep involvement and commitment to preserve the Cheatham Street Warehouse.
