The primary mission of Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is to support and promote the research and scholarly creative activity needs of the faculty and staff while ensuring compliance and scholarly integrity. Toward that end, the ORSP assists the University research community advance research and commercialization efforts, encourages interdisciplinary activities across campus, facilitates collaboration with external partners, and provides matching funds to support new programs and initiatives. The mission of Research Development and Strategic Initiatives is to identify and coordinate strategic initiatives that will advance the mission to support scholarly and creative activity at Texas State. Pre and Post Award Support Services
Research is the principal source of technological innovations and economic expansion for our state and country. Pre and Post Award Support Services at Texas State University—San Marcos promotes externally funded research, scholarly and creative activity, public service, instruction, training, and other projects. Pre and Post Award Support Services is the central source of information for major government agencies, foundations, and corporations that support research and other sponsored programs. Technology Transfer and Contracts (TTC)
The mission of Technology Transfer and Contracts is to coordinate the university’s commercialization and industrial activities, to enhance and promote its applied research and development activities, assist in the capture of commercial research and development funding, to enhance the University’s entrepreneurial platform, and to provide resources for the support and enhancement of “education with relevance.” The overall goal of the Incubator Program located at the Science, Technology and Advanced Research (STAR) park is to provide space and infrastructure to expedite research and commercial development of promising technologies in the context of viable, well managed, start-up and early stage companies. Research Integrity and Compliance (RIC)
The overarching mission of Research Integrity and Compliance is to ensure that Texas State meets or exceeds the regulatory and ethical standards for the conduct of research to which the University is bound. We function as a conduit of information from regulatory agencies to the individual researchers, communicating in the most effective way possible the prescribed procedural and regulatory compliance required of the researcher, providing them with the support, resources, and processes necessary to meet those requirements, documenting and maintaining records of compliance efforts, and completing the cycle by reporting compliance activity back to the regulating agencies, enabling forward progress of the University’s research mission. Testing Research Support and Evaluation Center (TREC)
TREC provides individual consultation to researchers to assist and instruct them on key elements of research including writing good survey items/measurement issues, Selection of appropriate statistical procedures, conducting example analyses using SPSS, Interpretation of results, developing web-based surveys and managing data at project completion. TREC also provided is assistance with the preparation of research proposals seeking funds from external sponsors of at least $75,000. The General Accounting Office is responsible for processing and assisting with Travel advances, Research advances and Non-purchase order payments. Purchasing and Contracting Services

Materials Management and Logistics Services

Payroll and Tax Compliance

The Budget Office provides administrative support to all internal grant programs (REP, SURF, Freeman Fellows, ORSP one time support, faculty startup funds, etc.). Various Facilities departments are available to identify facilities and utilities capabilities, limitations, and enhancement requirements associated with lab renovations, grant proposals, and growth in research faculty and staff. Specifically, the following departments can provide guidance and support as noted below. Facilities Staff is also a resource regarding Campus Master Plan objectives, Construction standards, code compliance requirements, energy usage, and sustainable design/operating procedures.

Planning, Design and Construction
This group is available to help develop the scope of work, cost estimate and procurement strategies to accomplish renovation, modernization and major repair projects, Building Code requirements, Occupancy Classification limitations with regard to chemical quantities, and design impact regarding Life Safety Code compliance. High Performance Computing and Data Management Plans
High Performance Computing is an area of specialized support for individuals and groups. This individualized support is tailored to each investigator and his/her associates. Texas State University is now classified as an Emerging Research University by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. This status allows the university to apply for matching funds to leverage private gifts for the enhancement of research productivity and faculty recruitment as specified in Section 62.123 under Texas Education Code, Chapter 62, Subchapter G.
