Sponsored Programs Pre-Award Workshop
Description: This workshop is intended for faculty or staff who have not yet submitted a grant proposal at Texas State. If you plan to submit a proposal you should attend this workshop to learn how the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) can help you with the process. The workshop will address the following services of OSP:
• finding funding sources
• knowing about compliance issues that could concern you
• preparing a proposal
• preparing a proposal budget
• knowing what processes to follow

Sponsored Programs Post-Award Workshop
Description: We will discuss the following services of the Office of Sponsored Programs:
• establish, maintain and close sponsored program accounts
• interpret and enforce sponsor, University and other administrative policies
• monitor expenditures for compliance with sponsor and University policies and procedures
• prepare and monitor sub awards and subcontracts
• work with faculty and staff to provide accurate and timely financial information
• prepare financial reports to sponsors
• carry out cash management responsibilities associated with the funding of sponsored projects
• act as a liaison with other University administrative support units, sponsors, and auditors
• advise on post award business and financial matters
• assistance with SAP Grants Management
Human Resources will review the following policies and procedures related to:
• performance appraisal
• compensation
• classification

Sponsored Programs Effort Reporting Workshop
Description: This effort reporting class will help you better understand issues related to effort reporting. Effort reporting class objectives include: review of effort reporting and cost sharing; understanding salary components of a grant proposal budget; understanding the relationship between payroll and effort certification forms; understanding the effort package; and discussion of ongoing issues.

Sponsored Programs Contracts Workshop
Description: This workshop will cover sponsored program contracts including legal terms and risks.
We will focus on how to develop a contract that conforms to the requirements of the sponsor and the university. Topics will include: best practices in complying with grant conditions and regulations, how to track grant spending to ensure proper financial reports and how to understand liability waivers.

GAMS Introduction Workshop
Description: This workshop will provide participants with an overview of GAMS (Grants Application Management System). GAMS is a pre-award information system for applying for sponsor-funded research projects. GAMS is fully compatible with major Federal eGovernment initiatives including Grants.gov, and is a cooperating partner of the NIH eRA Commons initiative. It is a web based application supported by IE and Netscape and is comprised of proposal development, routing, approval cycle and advanced reporting .
GAMS will improve the collection of required proposal information by investigators and administrators
by providing a single location for the upload of all proposal documents.

GAMS Routing and Approvals Workshop
Description: This workshop will provide participants with an overview of GAMS (Grants Application Management System) routing and approval cycle. This class is intended for those individuals in the routing and approval chain of authority.
