Message from IRB chair

Dear all,

I would like to announce our new Chair of the Institutional Review Board at Texas State University, Dr. Russell Lang, Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education.

Dr. Lang has been a member of Texas State University’s IRB for over 13 years. As a member of the IRB, he has served as a substitute chair and lead mulitple subcommittees. Dr. Lang has extensive experience as scientific advisor for a range of national and international organizations including the Organization for Autism Research, American Speech and Hearing Association, and Fonds National de La Recherche of Luxembourg among others. He is an Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor, or Board member for 12 international peer-reviewed scientific journals, which has provided experience and perspective on a wide range of research approaches. Dr. Lang’s own research and expertise in the education and treatment of children with intellectual and developmental differences contributes to his perspective regarding risks and needs of vulnerable populations. Finally, he directs the College of Education’s Clinic for Autism, Research, Evaluation and Support (CARES) and teaches the Ethics course in Autism program. These responsibilities involve developing a service model and curriculum that includes training and mentoring students about responsible research conduct as guided by the federal government.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Lang as IRB chair.
