Are The Ramps courses limited to technology companies or individuals starting a technology company?

No, the course is for anyone who wants to start a scalable venture or turn an existing company into a scalable venture.

Do I need an idea for a company before joining?

No, we will teach you methods to find an idea for a scalable venture and evaluate it based on the opportunity, and your strengths and passions.  One method to find an idea is to review availalble technologies from Texas Universities.  Most universities in Texas will showcase technologies for you to choose from.

Can I join if I already run a small business?

Yes, if you want to research methods to develop it into a scalable venture. However, it's important to make sure you have the time and need the program. Set up a meeting with the coaches to be sure the program is right for you.

What is the time commitment?

Sessions meets 3 hours per week. There are 16 Ramps and each Ramp includes assignments that may require 4-6 hours to complete.  The Ramps can be completed at your own pace. 

What are the program fees and other costs?

The costs are listed in the flyers for each city.  See the "locations" tab for flyers. 

In addition to program fees, you need to read several books.  You may buy, borrow or check the books out of the library. 

In some locations, you will also need to purchase a parking permit or pay parking fees.

Some retreat costs are extra but also optional.

You can request a scholarship if you are a dislocated worker, a current student seeking an advanced degree or have recently launched a new business.

Payment plans are available for a small financing fee.

 

What is the session format?

Sessions run from evenings for 3 hours. Weekly sessions have three formats:

  • Seminar with local experts
  • Workshops for coaching
  • Networking events to meet the entrepreneurship scene 

You may work with a coach at any mutually determined time or during office hours established by each coach.

Retreats can include travel, overnight accomidations or Saturday meetings.

Will the program help fund my business?

There is no guarantee you will receive funding for your business.  You will learn methods to fund your business including:  bootstrapping, bartering, product launch, licensing, grants, strategic partnering and angel or venture investments.
