The Employee Wellness Fair has become an annual event for all faculty and staff at Texas State University. The Fair creates an opportunity for employees to receive information and services related to individual health issues, e. g., screenings for blood pressure, free flu shots, blood glucose level testing, vision screening, hearing tests, body fat percentage calculations, and lung function analysis. In addition employees have the opportunity to receive information from entities that they may need/use the services of, e. g. , Hays-Caldwell Women's Center, Blood and Tissue Center, American Cancer Society, Humana Dental, Texas Oncology, and Austin Heart Hospital to name just a few of.
Planning begins during the summer with a cross-division committee. Invitations are extended to both on-campus and off-campus entities to participate in the Fair. Our fall 2015 Fair had 49 vendor booths and over 600 employees in attendance. Employees are notified of the Fair through articles in two HR Bulletins, two campus-wide e-mails, flyers posted across campus, an article on the Texas State homepage, the Fair is listed in the special events section of the Texas State homepage, additional publicity through the Work Life component of HR and the Staff Council, and an appeal to the division vice presidents to encourage their managers to support attendance by all employees of Texas State.
Check back on our page later this spring when we announce the date for the fall 2016 Texas State Employee Wellness Fair!
