Workshop description:
Join the Texas State Information Security team to learn up-to-date knowledge and skills required for effectively managing the security of systems you are responsible for, whether at work or at home. This class is specifically intended for technical support staff at Texas State University. Experience using a Windows operating system is required for the hands-on portion of this class. Topics of the workshop include:
- How to avoid most attacks
- How to secure your operating system
- How to effectively manage Windows permissions
- Windows security administration
- Windows security tools
- Web security tools
- Wireless security
- Risk assessment and auditing
- Vulnerability scanning
- Identity Finder scanning
- System log review
- Incident handling and reporting
NOTE: This workshop will include a discussion of securing Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, but all of the hands-on activities will be performed on Windows systems.
This workshop is limited to 20 participants per session.
