E-mail and voicemail were developed to enhance communication, making us more efficient in our jobs and more connected to the world around us. Have you experienced any of these scenarios?
- Hit the “Send” button and realized that you inadvertently clicked “Reply to All” rather than “Reply”?
- Have you ever accidentally hung up on someone while you were transferring a call?
- Are you tired of getting “chain” emails that not only measure your popularity but also predict your future happiness?
Everyone can recall an office communication “oops,” whether theirs or someone else’s. Luckily, there are guidelines as to the proper way to answer and transfer calls, write and send e-mails, and generally improve internal and external communications through the appropriate use of both e-mail and voicemail.
