Join the Texas State Information Security team to learn up-to-date knowledge and skills required for effectively managing the security of systems you are responsible for, whether at work or at home. This class is an intermediate level class which will provide valuable information for technical support staff at Texas State University. Experience with using Windows is strongly recommended for the hands-on portion of this class. Topics of the workshop include:
• Current threats and best practices
• Wireless security
• Securing your systems
• Operating systems checklists (Linux, Windows ,Mac)
• Risk assessment and auditing
• Vulnerability scanning
• Identity Finder scanning
• System log review
• Host-based intrusion detection
• Windows security administration
• Unix and Mac security fundamentals
• Web security and phishing
• Incident handling and reporting
NOTE: This workshop will include a discussion of securing Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, but all of the hands-on activities will be performed on Windows systems.
This workshop will be limited to 20 participants per session.
