We have sessions for all ages--whether you are just starting out, planning for your family's college education, or nearing retirement.

8:30 – 10:00 am: 

Social Security – This session will focus on helping you understand Social Security and what part it will play in your retirement.  A general overview of Medicare topics will also be covered.

Staying the Course – This session will discuss the current financial climate and how not to react during turbulent times.  It will address the financial rollercoaster, what’s happening, tips for staying focused, and where to go from here.

Wills and Estate Planning
– A Texas attorney board certified in estate planning and probate law will discuss Texas probate law and basic estate planning strategies.  This session will cover major items in a Last Will and Testament as well as beneficiary designations made outside of a will.

Texa$aver Plan: Branding your Future – This session will discuss the importance of having a balanced retirement plan and cover the differences between the 457 Texa$aver plan and a 403b Tax Deferred Account available to faculty and staff.  Enrollment, investment options, diversification strategies and loan options will be covered.

12:30 – 2:00 pm:

Retiree Insurance Program – Learn about Texas State retiree insurance benefits for regular retirees and interim retiree insurance for early retirees.  Coordination of retiree health insurance with Medicare will be discussed.  Also, learn about Long Term Care Insurance so you can prepare now for your future.

Money Principles for Today - In this money management workshop you will discover methods, plans and ideas that will help put your money to work.  This session will cover the importance of having a budget and how to create one that works for you.  Learn how to set financial goals, develop a spending and savings plan, plus much more.

TRS:  It’s Your Retirement – This session will provide a general overview of your Teacher Retirement System of Texas benefits as an active member and an explanation of what to expect when you retire.
