Workshop description
As supervisors, you encounter a number of different scenarios with student workers. In some situations, you don’t feel that you have clearly defined policies to follow because the employee is a student employee. This workshop will address some of those questions with a review of university policy and procedures. Some areas of common concern are the following:
- benefits and rights of student employees
- hiring of international students and job discrimination
- background checks
- unpaid training of student workers
- paid breaks
- harassment of other employees or supervisors
- disciplining a student employee
- terminating a student employee
- student grievance process
