Workshop description
University faculty and staff increasingly have to look outside of state and federal grants to obtain funding for their research programs. Funding in the form of sponsored agreements is becoming more common. Contracts are often difficult to understand and a standard boiler plate isn’t always appropriate.
Faculty will be introduced to basic contract terminology. They will also learn how to discuss review and negotiation points and provide an overview of contract compliance, including a discussion of policy and procedures specific to sponsored contracts.
This workshop will discuss the following objectives:
- Discuss University policy and process
- Define contracts and understand types of contracts
- Learn the parts of a contract
- Obtain a general overview of problematic and required clauses
- Acquire a basic understanding of risk management
- Understand compliance in contracting
