Calling all technical support staff at Texas State University:
Join the Texas State Information Security team to learn up-to-date knowledge and skills required for effectively managing the security of systems you are responsible for on campus. This class is an intermediate level class which will provide valuable information for technical support staff at Texas State University. Experience with using Windows is required for the hands-on portion of this class. Topics of the workshop include:
• University server management requirements
• System hardening and checklists (Windows, Mac, Linux)
• Vulnerability scanning
• Sensitive information scanning
• System log review
• Host-based intrusion detection
• File share and permissions management
• Web browsing security and Google scanning
• Wireless security best practices
• Risk assessment
NOTE: This workshop is primarily for Windows administrators. All of the hands-on activities in this workshop will be performed on Windows systems. This workshop is limited to 20 participants per session.
