Scholarships are a very important part of what this organization does for our students. To answer the need for financial assistance for new and continuing students at Texas State University, the Association has established four scholarships, raising the award in 2000 to $1,500 per academic year. A scholarship is an outstanding way to remember someone or an organization and at the same time benefit students in need.

The Lunelle A. Anderson Scholarship was our first scholarship, established in 1996. It is named in honor of the founder of our organization, which began in 1976. The Wylmette “Heather” Gayle Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 following Heather’s “going home” at the early age of 22. Heather was in her junior year at Texas State pursuing a major in Marine Biology and a minor in Music. On campus, Heather was an active member of Angel Flight and sang in the choir. She was also a mentor for the YMCA and an active member of the Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Austin.

• The Marian Loep Endowed Scholarship, established in 1999, is designated for a student whose parents are members of the Parents Association. Mrs. Loep has been the Association’s coordinator since 1989 and is directly responsible for the association’s growth and increased funding capabilities.

• Our newest scholarship, the Heloise Bowles Memorial Endowed Scholarship, was established in October 2006 to commemorate the Association's 30th Anniversary on the Texas State campus and to honor the memory of Heloise who was the Association's first honorary chair person.  This scholarship is designated for a student whose parents are members of the Association and with special consideration for a student majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication or Mathematics.
