Tips for Academic Success
-
Go to class and participate actively.
-
Schedule classes five days a week and take 15-17 hours of classes per semester.
-
Study at least two hours for every hour you are in class.
-
Plan your days; have a balanced schedule; manage your time - don't let others manage you.
-
If you don't know what you want to major in, start working on a plan to get clarity; key persons are your academic advisor and the Career Services staff or take the SIGI-3 interest assessment test offered through Career Services. -
Seek out help with academic problems early - study issues, test taking issues, time management issues. Talk to your professors, see the SLAC staff and go to Supplemental Instruction, if available. -
If there is academic failure, it has to do with the amount and quality of the effort; not your ability.
-
Seek out resources to help you succeed.
