The Equity and Access team provides training and hiring guidelines to assist departments in the hiring of faculty and staff. We also support agents of the university in achieving our diversity initiatives as outlined in the University Strategic Plan. In addition, Equity and Access manages the equal employment opportunity program, investigating claims of harassment and discrimination on campus. Cynthia Prado

Equity and Access Analyst

Ms. Cynthia Prado, Equity and Access Analyst, began her employment with the Office of Equity and Access in 1997.  Ms. Prado has been employed with Texas State University since 1990 and has served many departments within the university including the Office of the Associate Vice President for Budgeting and Administrative Services, the Office of the Vice President for University Advancement, the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and University Affairs, and currently, the Office of Equity and Access.  During her time with Texas State, Ms. Prado has developed and maintained a close relationship with the university community in providing advice and consultation in many aspects of the university’s needs throughout the campus. Ms. Prado is the primary contact on hiring and selections and serves as the office manager.

Melissa Amaya

EEO Compliance Specialist

Melissa Amaya has a degree in Communication Studies from The University of Texas-Pan American and is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Administration at Texas State University. She enjoys working to address the needs and concerns of students, faculty, and staff. As an EEO Compliance Specialist her duties include gathering data for various reports including the Affirmative Action/Recruitment Plan, annual Diversity Assessment Report, and Title IX Compliance. Melissa reviews policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state law requirements. She is also involved in the dispute resolution process functioning as the primary point of contact. Melissa proudly serves Texas State University in its mission to serve the needs of diverse populations.
