The Equity and Access team provides training and hiring guidelines to assist departments in the hiring of faculty and staff. We also support agents of the university in achieving our diversity initiatives as outlined in the University Strategic Plan. In addition, Equity and Access manages the equal employment opportunity program, investigating claims of harassment and discrimination on campus. When considering reporting options, Complainants should be aware that certain Texas State University personnel can maintain strict confidentiality, while others have mandatory reporting and response obligations. Texas State University personnel who are not confidential reporters as described in section 3.4 of the Texas State University System Sexual Misconduct Policy and who receive a report of alleged sexual misconduct are required to share the information with appropriate administrative authorities for investigation and follow up. Texas State University will protect a Complainant’s confidentiality by refusing to disclose his or her information to anyone outside Texas State University to the maximum extent permitted by law. As for confidentiality of information within Texas State University, the University must balance a Complainant’s request for confidentiality with its responsibility to provide a safe and non-discriminatory environment for the Texas State University community.
