Wittliff Collections hosts author Jonathan Burke for lecture, signing

Author Jonathan Francis Burke will hold a lecture and book signing at Texas State University’s Wittliff Collections on Tuesday, October 11.
The event will be at 5:45 p.m. on the seventh floor of Alkek Library with a reception 5:30 p.m. Burke’s lecture is titled, “Build Bridges, Not Walls: Fostering dynamic mixing, not parochial nativism, between cultures of the U.S. Southwest.”
Burke is the author of Build Bridges, Not Walls: Nourishing Diverse Cultures in Faith and Mestizo Democracy: The Politics of Crossing Borders. He is currently a professor of political science at Trinity University. During the event, Burke will discuss the Southwest as a critical borderland where the east-west Euro-American migration meets the south-north migration of Latino Americans from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
The event is sponsored by the Center for the Study of the Southwest, the Center for Diversity and Gender Studies, the Department of Sociology and the Department of Political Science.
