The Office of Emergency Management of the Texas State University Police Department will conduct a test of the TXState Alert emergency notification system at noon on Thursday, Jan. 23.
A test emergency announcement will be sent out using various systems, such as the university webpage, text messages and other devices. This is only a test and no action needs to be taken by students, faculty or staff.
The purpose of the test is to assess how well the system operates in alerting the university community about a possible emergency situation that could affect lives or property. Texas State will be conducting at least one of these tests each semester.
Although the university has taken steps to ensure that everyone has access to the announcement, this would be a good opportunity for those who have not signed up for the TXState Alert system to do so by going to the University Police webpage www.emergencyinfo.txstate.edu/ and follow us on the Office of Emergency Management Facebook and Twitter pages at: www.facebook.com/TXStateOoEM and www.twitter.com/TXStateOoEM.
