Texas State University’s annual Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Conference will run Nov. 21-22 with the theme of "Sustainability: Preparing for the Long Haul."
The Nov. 21 pre-conference events will take place 3-6 p.m. in the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Marcos. The Nov. 22 conference will take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center on campus. This year's conference will feature a special one-hour workshop Nov. 22 at 10 a.m. in Room 3.10-1 of the LBJ Student Center.
The workshop, "Micromessaging to Reach and Teach Every Student," is open to high school teachers, college professors, information technology coordinators and teacher assistants. Educators will learn to use the tools and techniques needed to increase student participation in science, technology, engineering and math.
Special guest speaker Tegwin Pulley of the Dallas-Fort Worth STEM Equity Pipeline will share successful strategies designed to improve the academic performance of under-represented student populations.
