A Bryan woman has been charged in connection with a bomb threat at Texas State University last week that prompted evacuations at three university buildings.

Brittany Nicole Henderson, 19, was arrested Tuesday in Brazos County following an investigation led by Texas State University police and involving other law enforcement agencies.

Investigators were able to trace the threatening messages to an email account allegedly belonging to Henderson.

She was charged with making a terroristic threat, a third-degree felony; and making a false alarm, a Class A misdemeanor.

She remained in the Brazos County Jail on Wednesday and was awaiting extradition to Hays County.

Henderson enrolled at Texas State in fall 2011 and withdrew from the university Sept. 26.

Besides the Texas State University Police Department, the investigation included officials with the FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force, the Austin Police Department Bomb Squad, the San Marcos Police Department, the Texas Highway Patrol, the Hays County Sheriff's Office, the Bryan Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety Fusion Center, the San Marcos Fire Department and the Our Lady of the Lake University Police Department.

A bomb threat was received by a Texas State admissions officer early Oct. 18, resulting in the evacuation and closure of the Admissions Building and the Tower and San Jacinto residence halls for several hours.

The Austin Bomb Squad conducted a sweep but no explosives were found.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
