The American Marketing Association chapter at Texas State University-San Marcos placed the most finalists of any school in the country during the recent 30 Minutes with an Entrepreneurial Hero competition, sponsored by the AMA and the Acton Foundation for Entrepreneurial Excellence.
Texas State's Andrew Holliday took second place out of 112 applicants, while Alyssa Douglass, Kristin O’Neal, Matt Bridger, Josh Heckman, Jaci Johnson, Krystal Slater, Samantha Spillman, Matthew Kabat
and Andrea Janak were named finalists.
The 30 Minutes with an Entrepreneurial Hero competition offered 28 AMA Collegiate Chapter members an opportunity to win one of 28 grants to defray expenses to attend to 2010 AMA Collegiate Conference (total prize money of $5,800). It was designed to provide students with a way to comfortably get their foot in the door and meet a successful entrepreneur. This was a rare opportunity for students to go behind the scenes to get firsthand knowledge about how an entrepreneur achieves success and the lessons they have learned. The competition gave face-to-face learning experience about sales and marketing from a business leader.
